Spring Eights Head

Runcorn's Eights Head is rowed on the lower reaches of the River Weaver in Cheshire.

No other river traffic, very little stream (normally) , little driftwood, super food and great racing.

This year's event is on Saturday March 4th

Ideal training and preparation for the NOE Head (1 week before) and the Tideway (3 weeks before)

6,000m on the River Weaver from Pickerings' Lock to Sutton Weaver

Poster and details of the University Victor Ludorum are below

This is to let you know that after advice, and a rigorous risk assessment the Race Committee have decided that there is no alternative but to cancel the Head tomorrow. The water levels have continued to rise (from yesterday afternoon), the flow has increased to around 6-7 mph and there is more rain forecast. There is also a stoppage notice in force from C & R T. No change is expected in the next 24 hours. I
