Runcorn Rowing Club Juniors have excelled with their rowing expertise over the past few weeks, bringing home international and national medals along with great performances at Junior Great Britain trialling events.
Annie Rogers, along with Henry Pettinger-Harte and Poppy Burgess, has been progressing through the Junior selection process over the past 6 months. Annie's success to date has cumulated in selection to represent GB at the Munich Junior International Regatta.
This two day event was held at the Olympic Regatta Course, Munich on May 5/6 2012 and racing was against crews from all over Europe and as far away as Brazil
Annie was one of six GB girls selected and raced on the Saturday morning in a Double with Jo Unsworth (Henley RC), coming 9th overall against strong close opposition.
The afternoon saw fantastic results with Annie in the GB Womens Junior Quadruple Scull, winning a Gold medal, completing the 2000m six laned course in 6:49:55, a good length and a half ahead of Czech Rowing Association.
On the Sunday she raced with Emily Ford, Grange School RC, in the Womens Junior Double winning the heat and coming 4th overall.
Annie's journey to this point in her GB Trials started way back in November 2011. Performing well in Assessments over the winter months at Boston and GB Rowing Team Centre, Caversham, she was selected for training camps at Nantes and Belgium for the top performing athletes and eventually Munich.
The final goal is to be selected to represent GB at the 2012 World Junior Championships, Plovdiv, Bulgaria in August. Annie Said " It will be interesting to see who the selectors decide to send to the World Junior Championships. Getting to Munich is by no means a guarantee. My achievements so far have been possible due to the wonderful support for myself and the others trialling, from our incredible coach Val Edwards and with her help I am looking forward to Final Trials in July"

At the end of April, Runcorn's three GB contenders, competed at the GB Trialling event, Dorney Lake Junior Small Boats Regatta. Despite the really bad weather conditions more suited to heavy weight rowers and the possibility of the event being cancelled, RRC juniors performed well and came home with pleasing results.
Val Edwards said " In the Time Trials Henry came 15th, Annie 6th and Poppy 15th. After a round of heats and semi-finals, Annie came 5th in the A Final, Henry came 3rd in the C Final and Poppy was 5th in the C Final. All were pleased with their results, despite very tough opposition and are looking forward to final trials, fighting with everything to win"
