Chester Regatta 2011

Runcorn victorious at Chester Regatta

Chester Regatta, held on 8 May, saw Runcorn Rowing Club secure a fantastic 16 wins, across the full range of events.

Their success led the club to be overall Junior winners, securing one of the coveted Victor Ludorum prizes. Runcorn narrowly missed the overall Senior Victor Ludorum by just 3 points! A brilliant day of racing by the whole club.

Club Captain Chris Edwards said " I am delighted to win the Junior Victor Ludorum and proud of the Senior achievements. Along with our Masters win, these results reflect all the hard training by the club over the winter months. All the crews thoroughly enjoyed the regatta and are looking forward to more successes over the summer months." He added " My thanks goes to Chester Regatta Committee for organising such a good event and we look forward to competing again next year."

The crews raced downstream on the River Dee on a 750m two lane course. Starting at the Red House Pub, in keeping with Chester's 275 year old tradition and finishing at Sandy Lane Park.

They competed against local clubs and crews from as far away as Loughborough and Bangor.
