The following day saw older members of the club competing at the prestigious British Rowing Masters Championships. This national event had approximately 660 entries, racing every 3 minutes from 8am to 7pm in all categories. Runcorn experienced top quality racing on the six laned 1000m course, against crews from all over the country and came home with 6 medal wins.
Eric Bennett and John Kervin won their first Gold medal ever, in the Mens Masters G Double. A prize long sought after, as in previous years Silver was the medal for them. Eric said "We are absolutely delighted with this win. It is the pinnacle of what we had ever hoped to achieve over many years"

I am so pleased with the results, as this was my first medal win , despite racing here for numerous years"
Dave was also in IM3 Masters D Quadruple Sculls crew, with Damian Parkinson, Pete Newton and Kevin Reynolds, that reached the final, coming a credible fourth place. Dave, also their coach said " I am really pleased for the boys. It is nice to see them in the race rather than chasing the race."
